Overview

Egalitarian Mode · 5 Pillars

Influence through reputation, reciprocity, and collective belonging.

Hierarchical Mode · 5 Pillars

Influence through rank, structure, and direct exchange.

30 questions total — 3 per pillar — rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Each pillar score is normalised to 0–100. The Mode Dominance Score (0–100) represents the balance between modes: 0 = maximally egalitarian, 100 = maximally hierarchical.

Raw responses

Each of the 30 questions receives a rating of 1–5.

Reverse scoring

Where reverse_scored: true, the score is 6 − rating. No current questions use this, but the field is supported.

Pillar score

Mean of the pillar's 3 questions, normalised: ((mean − 1) / 4) × 100.

Mode averages

egalitarian_average = mean of 5 egalitarian scores. hierarchical_average = mean of 5 hierarchical scores.

Mode Dominance Score

((hierarchical_avg − egalitarian_avg) + 100) / 2 · 0 = maximally egalitarian · 50 = balanced · 100 = maximally hierarchical

Dominant Mode Label

egalitarian if score < 45 · hierarchical if score > 55 · balanced otherwise
